CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: BATTLE OF MONEY CLUBS

Two money clubs will meet in the semi-finals of the Champions League this season after the quarterfinal ties were concluded earlier this week. French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Manchester City are widely regarded as money clubs and they will meet over two legs to determine one of the two final teams.

PSG secured a place in the Champions League semi-finals after seeing off defending champions Bayern Munich. The French Ligue 1 giants sealed a last four berth ahead of the holders as a result of the away goals rule.

Neymar was one of the stars of the first leg at the Allianz Arena last week Wednesday after he provided two assists to propel PSG to a 3-2 victory away from home. Neymar provided the first two goals of the game.

Brazilian international Neymar provided the first goal for French strikerKylianMbappebefore he turned provider again for compatriot Marquinhos to score. Hosts Bayern drew level with two goals from Eric Choupo-Moting and Thomas Mueller either side of the half-time interval.

PSG were able to bounce back from the disappointmentof losing a two-goal lead by scoring the third goal through Mbappe. The third goal turned out to be the winning goal of that first leg. Mbappe was just as influential as Neymar after his two-goal performance.

The first leg result left Bayern needing a two-goal victory in the second leg at the Parc des Princes this week if they don’t score at least three goals in a one-goal victory. In the end, they secured a 1-0 win and it was not enough for a place in the semis.

For Manchester City, they saw off Borussia Dortmund by a 2-1 scorelinein each of the two legs to move into the semi-finals of the Champions League. Manchester City are still with a chance of winning four trophies this season after securing a place in the final four of Europe’s premier club competition.
